Look at the side of the leg and you can see it: the seam does not drop straight down but rotates slowly towards the front. The idea comes out of old workwear, where it was meant to help the trouser sit better around the leg. Here it is mostly a shape decision that pulls the silhouette subtly off-axis. The light wash helps, because in dark denim you would miss it entirely.
